Utvrđeni grad Maglaj najvjerovatnije je podignut je u 14. vijeku, nalazi se na uzvisini iznad rijeke Bosne. Imao je domininantan položaj, zaštićen visokim bedemima i kulama. Najstariji dio grada se sastojao od višeugaone glavne kule. U 15. vijeku Osmanlije su osvojili maglajsku tvrđavu. Vanjski prostor sa sahat-kulom nastao je u 18. vijeku.
The fortified town Maglaj was most probably built in the 14th century. It is on a mound above the river Bosna. It had a dominant position, protected with high fortification walls and towers. The oldest part of the town consisted of a polygonal main tower. In the 15th century the Ottomans conquered the Maglaj fort. The outer area with the Sahat-kula was built in the 18th century.
