Mostar

Mostar se nalazi na jugu Bosne i Hercegovine. Ime je dobio po čuvarima mostova (mostarima). Historija grada datira iz vremena neolita o čemu govore brojna arheološka nalazišta. Za vrijeme Osmanskog carstva u Mostaru su izgrađene mnogobrojne znamenitosti kao što su Stari most, Koski Mehmed-pašina džamija, Karađoz-begova džamija, Sahat-kula, Saborna crkva… Za vrijeme austrougarskog perioda izgrađena je Mostarska gimnazija, most Musala (tadašnji naziv Franz Joseph Brücke), Gradska banja, Mitropolija Vladikin dvor…

Mostar is a city in the south of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its name is derived from the old bridge (Bos. most) guardians called “mostars”. The history of the city begins with the Neolithic age as attested to by various archeological sites. During the reign of the Ottoman empire many notable buildings were raised in Mostar such as the Old bridge (Stari most), Koski Mehmet Pašina mosque, Karađozbegova mosque, Sahat-kula (clock tower), Saborna crkva… During the Austro Hungarian period the Mostar high school was built, the bridge Musala (originally called Franz Joseph Brucke), the city bath, Mitropolit Vladika Dvor…
