Počitelj is one of the most beautiful cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is on the left side of the river Neretva. There are many landmarks in the city, the Gavrankapetanovića house and tower, Hadži-Alija mosque, Sahat-kula…The historical town of Počitelj was declared a national monumentof Bosnia and Herzegovina. After entering the town we will notice a large number of dućans (shops), the han, a hamam on the left side and across the road there is a Medresa with copper domes. On the right side is the Sahat-kula built by Ibrahim pasha. On the right side we climb the stairs towards the Gavrankapetanovića house where every year in the month of July there is a traditional artists’ colony that is one of the first colonies of its kind in the area of Southeastern Europe. Above the Gavrankapetanovića house is the Šišman Ibrahim-pašina mosque which is also known as the Hadži-Alija mosque built in the 16th century. Next to the mosque there is a stone minaret. When we arrive to the mosque yard we will notice stone remains of the former mosque which are not part of the reconstructed mosque. During the recent war the mosque was heavily damaged and the minaret completely destroyed. The mosque was reconstructed in 2003. After we have visited the mosque we continue walking towards the Gavrankapetanovića tower which dates from the 15th century. From the tower we can see a beautiful panoramic view of Počitelj and the Neretva river.
